Hard as Nails

nailpolish

So I tried but just couldn’t keep away.  I missed wearing nail polish and decided to get some formaldehyde-free top and base coats and painted my toe nails (my current top and base coats are not formaldehyde-free [and have been shown to cause birth defects in rats], which is why I took a hiatus from painting my nails).  I hate to admit it but I think the days of my painting my finger nails are over–it’s just not practical with my being pregnant and taking care of a newborn come December.  Ahhh…  Sure miss the smell and look of shiny red nails.  Speaking of nail polish, Christian Louboutin (my favorite shoe maker from my pre-pregnancy days) recently came out with his own nail polish line.  Is it worth it?  Many say yes (according to the reviews) but I think I’ll wait to see if I can get it as a gift ;).

Finally scheduled my hair appointment for Saturday.  My ends have been screaming at me for having put off getting my hair cut (my hair dresser will be disappointed when she sees me).  Restocked my favorite conditioner (at the moment, it’s Ojon Damage Reverse Conditioner).  Ounce for ounce, it’s less expensive than brands like Pureology and Kerastase (which I absolutely love) but works just as well.

We’re going to a wedding next week.  Hence, the haircut and painted toe nails (plus, I really missed wearing nail polish).  As for the outfit I’ll be wearing to the wedding, that is still in the works.  Funny how being pregnant makes for a more difficult selection process in terms of dressing up.  For those who are also pregnant, A Pea in the Pod (or Destination Maternity) is having a BUY-ONE-GET-ONE-FREE special on its sale items.  Not too shabby.

So I finally took the plunge and started getting a few pieces for my fall and winter wardrobe.  Given the fact that I’m in the second trimester, it won’t be long before my belly doubles in size.  My sundresses will only last until the end of summer and my leggings are begging for dear life.  Plus, wearing D’s T-shirts to run errands won’t fly when it’s 50-60 degrees out.  Time to get maternity clothes.  *SIGH*  So, here’s what I ordered:

(1)  Ingrid & Isabel Maternity Wrap Dress in black and gray

(2)  Eva Alexander Maternity Wrap Dress in black

(3)  Isabella Oliver Maternity Wrap Dress in gray

(4)  Everly Grey Maternity Wrap Dress in black

(5)  Spanx “Power Mama” Maternity Power Panties in nude

(6)  Spanx “Mama” Maternity Pantyhose in nude

(7)  Topshop High Waist Maternity Leggings in black

As you can see, I’m a fan of wrap dresses, leggings, black and gray (for the cooler months), and Nordstrom.  They’re just so versatile.  And since this is all new to me (the realm of maternity wear), I feel more comfortable knowing that if anything happens (poor fit, broken zipper. wrong color, etc.), I can always return anything and everything back to the store with no questions asked.  For those of you who don’t know, Nordstrom will take anything and everything back at any time as long you have the tags and receipts.  So save your tags and receipts!

The above should be enough to get started.  Other things I’ll need include a good coat (which I did not see on Nordstrom’s site or anywhere else) and a couple sweaters and cardigans.  Next stop:  baby stuff.
