Trimester

Thank Goodness for Little Girls

So I’ve gone a bit nuts in preparation for the arrival of Baby #2–namely, shopping for clothes.  Shopping for boys is not nearly as fun as shopping for girls.  Cases in point and Exhibits A, B, and C:

And I’m just getting started.  In addition to clothes, I’ve also invested in a tandem stroller and a couple new diaper bags among other things that are either little girl-specific or two-under-two-specific:

(1). Ju-Ju-Be Be Prepared Diaper Bag–This bag comes in several colors/prints and has received rave reviews from mothers of multiples.  The features of this bag are fantastic:  anti-bacterial material, Thinsulate insulation, handles and cross-body strap, pockets galore, etc.  Plus, it’s machine washable.  Need I say more?

(2). Ju-Ju-Be Hobobe Diaper Bag–This is a diaper bag disguised as a purse.  Perfect for the time being and running errands since Baby #2 isn’t arriving until July.  This style has most of the important features that the Be Prepared style has but is in a compact size.

Neither of the diaper bags above are what I would consider stylish (organization is the goal here).  But the pros definitely outweigh the cons and with having two kids under the age of two, mama is going to need all the help she can get!

Lots of errands to run today so will make this entry quick (but, don’t worry, I’ll be back shortly).  How many of you have done a “Guided Transfer” with WordPress.com I’ve been wanting to put various plug-ins on my blogs (all with WordPress.com) for quite some time and realized that plug-ins are prohibited on WordPress.com blogs/sites while are allowed on WordPress.org blogs/sites.  So, being the tech genius and super organized person that I am, it has taken me over a year to finally take action on this and hire someone to install the plug-ins for me.  However, before he can install the plug-ins on my blogs, I have to purchase the “Guided Transfer”, which is currently unavailable because the “team is taking a few days off.”  WTF?  Seems a bit odd when just about everyone is able to work remotely these days and it’s been this way for the past week.  *Shakes head*  Not the way to run a business, WordPress.com.

Empress’ New Clothes

So I finally took the plunge and started getting a few pieces for my fall and winter wardrobe.  Given the fact that I’m in the second trimester, it won’t be long before my belly doubles in size.  My sundresses will only last until the end of summer and my leggings are begging for dear life.  Plus, wearing D’s T-shirts to run errands won’t fly when it’s 50-60 degrees out.  Time to get maternity clothes.  *SIGH*  So, here’s what I ordered:

(1)  Ingrid & Isabel Maternity Wrap Dress in black and gray

(2)  Eva Alexander Maternity Wrap Dress in black

(3)  Isabella Oliver Maternity Wrap Dress in gray

(4)  Everly Grey Maternity Wrap Dress in black

(5)  Spanx “Power Mama” Maternity Power Panties in nude

(6)  Spanx “Mama” Maternity Pantyhose in nude

(7)  Topshop High Waist Maternity Leggings in black

As you can see, I’m a fan of wrap dresses, leggings, black and gray (for the cooler months), and Nordstrom.  They’re just so versatile.  And since this is all new to me (the realm of maternity wear), I feel more comfortable knowing that if anything happens (poor fit, broken zipper. wrong color, etc.), I can always return anything and everything back to the store with no questions asked.  For those of you who don’t know, Nordstrom will take anything and everything back at any time as long you have the tags and receipts.  So save your tags and receipts!

The above should be enough to get started.  Other things I’ll need include a good coat (which I did not see on Nordstrom’s site or anywhere else) and a couple sweaters and cardigans.  Next stop:  baby stuff.

Preggers

Yes, it has been a while since I’ve written.  But I have a very good excuse–we are now officially pregnant (at 16 weeks in the second trimester) and I have been very sick as of late (first with fever and then kidney infection) and we wanted to make sure the baby was okay before announcing the pregnancy.  Where do I begin…

For starters, the first trimester was no fun.  Whoever referred to the “glow” you get from being pregnant was lying.  There is no glow.  Just plenty of acne, nausea, fatigue, heartburn, gas, and acid reflux.  Every day.  I was going through all that plus being ill (and taking antibiotics) plus worrying about whether we were going to have a miscarriage.  Plus, wanting to write in this blog but, at the same time, not wanting to hide the small detail that we’re pregnant.  Every day.

Then, we moved into a larger place (for obvious reasons).  The move, although exciting, was also quite stressful.  We are finally getting settled in and the place still looks like a warehouse.  We live in Box City.

Now that we’re in the second trimester, I’m starting to show.  And feel (and look) about as sexy as a hippo in a thong.  Nothing fits me comfortably, anymore, except for my empire waist/elastic band maxi and sun dresses (which turned out to be great investments, after all).  The question is now, “What the hell will I wear during the fall and winter (that will be as comfortable)?”  Thankfully, the symptoms above have subsided (guess that’s why they call the second trimester “the honeymoon period” of pregnancy), although I still get occasional nausea.  As for food, I have turned into a one-woman demolition derby, eating at any and all hours of the day (and night).  Cravings have been the usual childhood favorites (grilled cheese with tomato soup, school cafeteria pizza, spaghetti with meat sauce, vanilla ice cream that comes in the little plastic cups, etc.) as well as certain fruits, veggies, and meat (especially beef).

As many of you know, I have taken a hiatus from my fashion blog and personal shopping business to focus on my health and carrying this baby to term.  With that said, I made a discovery that every pregnant woman (or non-pregnant woman whose weight fluctuates often) should know about–Cake Lingerie.  The material is amazing (actually stretches with your body).

Mom is in town for a visit and will be cooking some favorite Chinese dishes this evening (I have lots of favorites when it comes to food, as you can see).  More updates to come.
