Gear & Gadgets for Moms with Little Ones

mj

As a mom of toddlers, I am often around other moms of small children and two common topics that come up over time are:

(1)  “How do I save time?”

(2)  “What’s an easy way to do this?”

Let’s face it–when you have kids, there is only so much time you can save and nothing is easy about being a mom :).  With that said, it is all the more important to have efficient gear and gadgets (please note that I am only specifying brand names when necessary):

(1)  Primo Bath Tub–This bathtub can be used from Day 1 and my 2 and 3-year-olds still use it.  It’s safer than using your own bathtub/sink and other baby tubs, saves water, and makes bath time a cinch (with this tub, bath time for each kid is only 5 minutes!).

(2)  Electric Pressure Cooker–Three words: One button cooking.  Throw everything in a pot, push a button, and walk away.  I cannot imagine my life without mine.

(3)  Stand Mixer–Many people have hand mixers (as do I) but the idea is that the less you have to do by hand, the better.  Also, mommy deserves a treat once in a while (try making a chiffon cake with a hand mixer–possible but would take forever!).

(4)  Blender–If you’re lazy, busy, or have kids who won’t eat their veggies (or all of the above), then a blender can help you and your family have a healthier diet.  Remember, there’s a difference between blending and juicing (both have benefits).

(5)  Contours Options Tandem Stroller–I have used this stroller just about every day since our kids were born and I would say that this is probably the best mommy gear we have in our home.  The reason is because the seats can recline 180 degrees, are adjustable, and removable/interchangeable.  The space under the seats has ample storage for shopping and day trips.  In addition, there is a shopping basket attachment that you can purchase.  (Before we had our second child, we would replace the second stroller seat with the shopping basket attachment–pure genius; I would get wide-eyed, envious looks from other moms of babies every time I used our stroller.)

(6)   TravelJohn Unisex Travel Disposable Urinals–This product is a godsend.  Anyone (men, women, boys, girls, adults, toddlers, etc.) can use it.  Plus, it’s odor and leak resistant (the internal non-toxic gel instantly absorbs urine and transforms all contents into a gel).  Super portable and disposable.  Use it anytime and anywhere.  Need I say more?

Lots of errands to run today so will make this entry quick (but, don’t worry, I’ll be back shortly).  How many of you have done a “Guided Transfer” with WordPress.com I’ve been wanting to put various plug-ins on my blogs (all with WordPress.com) for quite some time and realized that plug-ins are prohibited on WordPress.com blogs/sites while are allowed on WordPress.org blogs/sites.  So, being the tech genius and super organized person that I am, it has taken me over a year to finally take action on this and hire someone to install the plug-ins for me.  However, before he can install the plug-ins on my blogs, I have to purchase the “Guided Transfer”, which is currently unavailable because the “team is taking a few days off.”  WTF?  Seems a bit odd when just about everyone is able to work remotely these days and it’s been this way for the past week.  *Shakes head*  Not the way to run a business, WordPress.com.

Fight Like a Girl

Lots to catch up on…  I know I’ve been MIA lately because of my organizing the Men’s Scotch Tasting event for tomorrow at the Saks Men’s Store.  As of this minute, we still don’t have anyone who will speak about the scotches/malts (!!!).  You would think that that portion of the event would have been accounted for in the beginning of the event planning process.  But it wasn’t due to miscommunication.  *SIGH*  Lesson learned.  This is AVIVA‘s second event (as many of you recall, the first was the Women’s Trend Event at Nordstrom).  In addition, I’ve also been hired as a consultant to help boost a jewelry store’s online presence and marketing campaigns (which will be lots of fun).  So, that, in a nutshell, has been what’s going on with me since the last post.

Change of topic.  A friend of mine called me last night and complained about her boyfriend.  You can read more about that on my dating advice column/blog.  Bottom line:  you can tell a lot about someone by his/her fighting/disagreement style.  It’s not if and/or when you fight, it’s how you fight that matters.  When I was dating my husband, one of the things that helped me fall in love with him was his fighting style.  He is the most generous man I have ever known.  You know the saying, “It’s more important to be happy than right?”  Well, he gets it.  And, as a woman, you can’t help but love someone who is generous to a fault.

In other news, I am trying to get followers not just on my fashion blog but also on my Facebook page.  Unlike many people I know, I try to use my page as a platform for causes that I think others should be aware of and/or take action on.  Of course, like many others, I also enjoy posting fun stuff (like cartoons, jokes, photos, etc.).  But I see my Facebook page primarily as a way to “get the word out” on certain issues and/or interesting insights.  So, if you are inclined to do so (and enjoy receiving updates on quirky news stories, human trafficking, Alzheimer’s [as well as other causes], and/or food news), please feel free to click on “Follow” on my Facebook page.

New and Improved

detour

This post is let every one know that many of the previous posts were actually transferred over from my old blog (oldest post is probably a month old).  So, if the date of a post appears to be out of place (i.e., talk of Christmas time in a blog post dated this week), just know that it’s an old post that’s just been transferred over.  Thanks for reading!
